Take Care Of Your Liver And You'll Live Forever
by Nick Arrizza, M.D.
From a physiological standpoint one could probably correlate the decline in one's liver function with the state of one's declining health and their overall all "physiological age"
In other words what I am saying here is that your liver is perhaps the single most important organ in keeping you strong, healthy, youthful and alive.
Its interesting how little attention is paid to the state of liver function by many medical practitioners. Now by "liver function" I do not mean as measured by "liver function tests" as seen in medical and hospital practices. Such tests are only good enough to tell you at the end stages that your liver is in deep trouble.
Rather I'm referring to a litany of symptoms that accompany deteriorating liver function such as:
Abdominal bloating,
Achy joints,
Allergies,
Bad Breath,
Bruising or Bleeding,
Cellulite,
Constipation,
Depression
Digestive problems,
Dry peeling skin,
Elevated cholesterol,
Eye problems,
Fatigue,
Forgetfulness and poor concentration,
Gall bladder problems,
Headaches,
High blood pressure,
Impatience,
Excessive indigestion,
Tense body,
Itching,
Menstrual problems,
Mood swings,
Nausea,
Negativity,
Resentment,
Skin rashes,
Slow wound healing,
Stress in neck or back,
Etc...
Now how many times have you been told by your doctor that any of these common symptoms might be the result of liver under functioning. Probably never.
Instead what are often prescribed are medications that are meant to remedy these problems. Well where do you think those medications are metabolized i.e. broken down in your body?
You guessed it! In your under functioning liver.
All medications are essentially foreign substances to the human body and therefore the body sees them as such. Another way of saying this is that the body sees medications as "toxic".
You only have to listen to individuals who complain about the side effects that they cause to know this. Alternately look at the thickness of any pharmacopoeia; most of which warns about these side effects.
So what I am trying to convey here is that treating an under functioning liver by flogging it with toxic agents isn't my idea of getting at the root cause of a problem. Is it yours?
Surely there is another way. Perhaps one needs to understand and address why the liver is under functioning in the first place.
Well that's easy. Just look at all the toxins that we take into our bodies i.e. pesticides, inorganic chemicals, genetically modified foods, air and water pollutants, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco smoke etc.
It's no wonder our livers are giving up on us.
Isn't it time for each of us to take responsibility for how we have allowed ourselves to go unconscious about all of this and wake up to the truth about how we can help our livers and thereby change the entire planetary situation?
